Looking for a fun activity to share with your kids or grandkids while staying safe at home? Try making a plastic bag soccer ball!

All over the world, children love to play soccer. But in developing countries, many children do not have the luxury of owning their own soccer ball, so they make one out of local materials. The most common material used is plastic bags. Making a plastic bag soccer ball is a great activity for your child to see how children just like them are using their creativity to have fun even when their resources are limited.

STEP ONE
Gather 10-15 plastic bags. Stuff all of the bags into one bag, and form into a tight ball. Using the handles of the outside bag, tie a knot to keep everything together.

STEP TWO
Take a long piece of twine or string and wrap it around the ball several times until it holds it’s shape. Pull the ends tightly and tie it off in a knot.

STEP THREE
Play ball!
