Giants Come in All Sizes
Janeth Moncada was a special woman of God and my sister in Christ.
She lived and worked for CRF in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Janeth lived to serve her God above all else.
I was honored to attend her burial service on January 23rd, not far from the neighborhoods where she worked tirelessly for children and families through CRF for 29 years. She was a wonderful mother to her own and hundreds more children who received her love, correction, training, and encouragement over the years.
She was a counselor and mentor to many other mothers who struggled against grinding poverty, a life she had experienced first-hand in her early years of marriage. Janeth always had time to listen and give counsel.
She always had time to smile and share her joyful spirit.
During her years of service to CRF, she never seemed to think about herself. Her first thought was for the sponsored children and how she could help them. She also made sure that the CRF children appreciated and acknowledged the wonderful opportunity provided them by the CRF sponsors. She encouraged them to be servants of God.
She had a marvelous, innate sense of the CRF mission.
Janeth would have to stretch to be five feet tall, but in my mind—she will always be a giant. She was a model of the greatest commandment given by Christ. She passionately loved God with all heart, mind, soul, and strength. And she loved her neighbor fervently. We will miss her presence, but her spirit and joy will live forever in our hearts and minds.
