What is God’s will for your life? Haven’t you pondered this question and tried to figure it out? When I was a campus minister, students asked me so many questions trying to figure out what God wanted them to do with their lives. Where should I live? What should I do for an occupation? Whom should I marry?

As I was reading my Bible one day, I figured out the answer to finding God’s will. “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18) Finding God’s will is really about one choice— giving thanks. And you can do this anywhere you live, with anything you choose to do, or with any person you marry.

I learned this best from Emmanuel Namunyu. He had 126 AIDS orphans on his farm. He asked me to help him take care of them. When I didn’t help, he said, “Thank you a trillion times!” Later I changed my mind and helped him. He said, “Thank you a trillion times!” Emmanuel had found God’s will. Whether I helped him or didn’t help him—he was thankful. He was thankful in all circumstances. As you have probably noticed, I say, “Thank you a trillion times!” a lot. I got the saying from Emmanuel. He had found God’s will. And I want to do so also.

I got a little newsletter recently from the CRF work in Eldoret (ECAN). They were also friends with Emmanuel. When I read it, I noticed that every person who acknowledged CRF did so because they wanted to express their thanks. I was thankful that they were thankful. I realized that they were thankful for CRF donors. They were thankful for YOU! I thought it would be good to pass on their thanks to you. They have found God’s will, and I think you have too.
