What is the best gift you have ever received? If you asked Santolyne Chemili, who lives in the Kipkaren slum of Eldoret, Kenya—she would say it is her education. She is receiving her education because of the CRF sponsorship of Stella Dahl. Stella is a fourteen-year-old student from Oxford, Mississippi, the grandaughter of Eric and Melanie Dahl. Eric serves on the board of CRF.

If you asked Santolyne what her second-best gift ever was? She would say a cow. It also came from Stella. Santolyne couldn’t believe that someone she had never met could be her greatest helper and become a friend.

A cow was something that her family had never been able to afford. Now her family is healthy because they have milk to drink every day.

If paying school fees and ensuring that her family had enough to drink wasn’t enough, Santolyne also received the gift of a double-decker bed and a sheep. These gifts were followed with a goat.

Santolyne said that she had only heard of this type of love in the Bible story of the Good Samaritan. Indeed, Stella was Santolyne’s Good Samaritan.

The sponsorship, cow, goat, and bed were seeds of love that have germinated into a transformed family for Santolyne. They have given Santolyne educational and economic empowerment. Can you imagine her happiness?

Thank you, Stella, for the seeds of love!
